Splash

Dear Friend,

This time next year, with the right connections, you could finally own your own second “dream home”…

… and live right on the beach, in the mountains, or in the big city - for $97,000 or less…

You could start taking advantage of the world’s most benefit-laden retirement programs…

… and cut your cost of living by 35% to 50% or more…

You could finally start spending most of your time pursuing what really interests you…

… and learn how to salsa-dance… salt-water fly-fish… speak Spanish… become a travel writer… or volunteer in the local community…

And you could even start maximizing your spending power while minimizing your tax liability…

… and protect your assets from outsiders… open an offshore bank account… invest in undervalued real estate … or even open your own B&B, tour company, or dive shop…

The Choice Is Yours – Right Now…

When you allow yourself to consider the possibilities beyond U.S. borders, you’re on the road to discovering just how romantic, exciting, interesting, inspiring, and profitable life can be.

But you’ve got to make the decision to open your mind. It’s a single, straightforward…but, at the same time, dramatic and potentially terrifying choice.

Here’s my personal challenge to you right now:

If you've had thoughts of someday living in Paradise, of starting over in your own Shangri-la…of living better, for less…of enjoying better weather…of realizing your lifelong daydreams of fun and profit overseas…yet continue to put these dreams aside month after month... year after year... because you're afraid it'll be too difficult, too complicated, too frustrating…

… then I have three words for you:

Do it now.

The Ultimate Event Speakers - They’ve been there… and done that!!!

Like you, many of our speakers once had a dream of living and prospering overseas. And they’ve got some great stories to tell about “how they did it”

At the Ultimate Event, you’ll hear the stories of established expats such as:

Jennifer King, who is a classically trained French chef and worked in the hotel restaurant industry before moving to Panama from Oregon. She opened the La Cresta de Oro pet friendly Bed & Breakfast and is currently working with a non-profit group to compile a guide (and website) to Panama city restaurants.

Steenie Harvey – Contributing Editor and Globetrotting Travel Writer: “18 years ago, I lived in England’s industrial heartland. My job wasn’t glamorous or well-paid – I was an office clerk in a printing factory. Preparing invoices, answering telephones, devising excuses why customers’ orders weren’t ready.

"We left for a number of reasons. General dissatisfaction with life played a big part, but rising crime and falling education standards were factors too. Our daughter was 13, and England seemed a dreadful environment in which to raise a teenager. After she got stoned by a gang of youths - they objected to her Girl Guides uniform - I realized the country was shot to hell.

"We swapped that life for a new one in western Ireland. (In 1988, sound cottages sold for a mere $10,000.) And rather than returning to the 9-5 grind, I created my own job – as a freelance travel writer.

"It’s turned out pretty well. I live in an astoundingly beautiful country, have no fears for my family’s safety...and I get paid to travel the world. The stone-throwing yobs did me a big favor!”

Mike Cobb – President, Gran Pacifica: "Almost four years ago my wife and 2-year-old daughter moved to Managua, Nicaragua for my work. We had originally anticipated a three- to five-year time but have grown to love our new home and plan to stay another five to seven years at this point.

"The reasons are very simple. When we were ready to have children, we moved from the DC area to a small town about 60 miles west of the city for the small town values we wanted for our kids. We lived there for two years and then we moved to Managua, a city of 1.2 million and really found the 'small town' values we so much desired.

"The love of family and real commitment to family is routine here. Values such as respect for parents and other 'elders' lives strong among the children. People are addressed with respect and I rarely if ever hear a child yell at an adult. Church attendance is high even among the youth, and a social conservatism is the norm.

"The other real surprise was just how much our quality of life improved. Certainly, having domestic help sounds good, but the reality of never having any household chores has created a scenario whereby we have much more quality family time together. Every weekend, we decide what we want to do, and in the evenings, we can spend our time reading, playing games, or doing puzzles.

"Time together as a family is important to us, and so are the values of our children's friends. In the search for the 'small town values,' the irony is that a city in a foreign country delivers more of what we wanted for our girls and for ourselves. We are happy to be 'home' in Managua."

You’ll get the chance to meet and hear more from Doug and Lily, Steenie, Mike, and many other intriguing, well-traveled International Living staff, presenters, and fellow attendees at International Living’s Ultimate Event.

Start Enjoying An Exciting New Life Of Pleasures and Prosperity – Right Away

As you know, for the past 26 years, we at International Living have been helping our readers make their dreams of starting a new life overseas come true.

Take a look:

“The World’s #1 Retirement Haven”

John Pasey was an engineer with a waste-management business in San Francisco. His work took him to more than 50 countries, so it’s safe to say he knows the world quite well. In 1999, he sold his business and retired to Panama.
Now he and his wife and Cheryl own a villa on the remote tropical island of Contadora, where they spend plenty of time relaxing each year.
“We thought we were buying a vacation home, but what we really got was a big new family of fellow island dwellers,” said John.  “When someone catches fish, it turns into a social dinner with the other residents.”
“We can walk to the beach and usually have it to ourselves,” Cheryl added. “But when we see someone else they’re always friendly. On this little island, we’re all friends.”

Why We're Hosting this Unique Conference in Panama

Panama has been International Living's top retirement pick for five years running. It's a nation worth your consideration -- both as a place from which to base a business and for a part-time or full-time home.

What you'll learn at this conference will serve you well no matter where you wind up. But you should know, too, about these particular benefits Panama offers…

Affordable First World Health Care -- Panama's health care facilities are the best in Central America. And they should be, they were built to U.S. standards while the U.S. was running the Panama Canal. You'll find nearly any health care services that you could ever want, but at a fraction of the prices and with a level of personal service--like house calls--that you can no longer find at home.

The World's Premier Pensionado Program -- save on almost everything… including recreational travel. As a pensionado you'll receive: 50% off entertainment--such as movies, theaters, concerts, and sporting events, 30% off boat, bus, and train fares, 25% off airline tickets, up to 50% off hotel stays, and 25% off at restaurants…

Modern Infrastructure -- Panama has great roads, high-speed Internet access, cable TV, electricity that works 24/7 just like back home, first-rate health care, drinkable water, edible fruits and vegetables… and much more. Once again, because much of the infrastructure was built for the benefit of U.S. troops and canal personnel stationed in Panama, you'll find things work much like they do at home.

Great Shopping -- You can find nearly anything that you want. Panama has numerous modern shopping centers. Plus many of the stores that you love to shop at back home. Panama boasts American-quality goods and services… pretty much all of the modern conveniences you're used to… only, in Panama, you won't be paying anywhere near U.S. prices for them.

Generous Incentives for Entrepreneurs -- Unbeatable advantages for entrepreneurs include the investor residency program and a host of financial incentives -- especially tax relief.

“The Caribbean’s Best Kept Secret”

Penny Leigh spent a year liquidating her Colorado gift shop, and many home garage sales and donations to shed a rural, mountain, winter lifestyle in exchange for an island dream lifestyle on the Caribbean island of Roatan in Honduras.
From her home, she can walk down a staircase to her own private lagoon during the daytime for swimming in the Caribbean Sea. “Seahorses are real,” she says. “You can see them while snorkeling or diving.”
And at night, she frequently gazes at the brilliant sky - trying to identify all the constellations.  “It’s amazing how many stars you can see when there’s no light pollution to cloud the sky.”

However, Penny does have one regret about moving to Honduras – and it’s a big one.

“We should have done this years ago,” says Penny. “For us, Honduras is the ‘Final Destination.’ Even with many surprising adjustments, we have never been happier or felt more like we’ve finally come home.”

“North America’s Most Popular Retirement Destination”

Fed up working 12-hour days as a family physician in California, Murray Friedman uprooted and left the rat-race behind. He opted for Mexico, where he and his partner run a B&B in San Miguel de Allende--a destination famous for its charming colonial architecture, natural hot springs, and mild, year-round weather. Now it’s Murray’s adopted hometown.
“Life’s too short” is Murray’s mantra. “Here, we have a new-found appreciation of each day. We enjoy our new lives tremendously.” To top it all off, Murray notes, “People smile at strangers--in New York, most avoid making eye contact. There is plenty of entertainment around town--from tango dance lessons to jazz sessions and performances by local musicians to get you in the festival mood.”
Not only is Murray’s new business in Mexico profitable, but enjoyable and fulfilling as well…“Last year, our occupancy rate was 95%,” says Murray.

“On www.tripadvisor.com we have been ranked the top place to stay for the Inn/B&B category in San Miguel for more than six months… We have excellent staff and make friends with many of our guests.”

This is just a small handful of readers who replaced their former routines with much more exciting, fulfilling, and unique activities.

Where could your dreams of a new life take you? We'll help you find out...

They’re now doing the things they’ve always dreamed of doing. The kinds of things they did before life got “complicated.”

And some of them are even starting new businesses - and making a profit while they’re at it.

You can start living just like this, too… and much sooner than you think...

How?

The Beginning Of Your Most Epic Adventure

My name is Kathleen Peddicord, Publisher of International Living.

About a year ago, I was chatting with my daughter, Kaitlin, who was 16 at the time. Like many teenagers, Kaitlin isn’t shy about speaking up when she’s got something on her mind.

But what she said to me this time was, well, a little surprising…

“Mom, does it ever bother you that your life is over?”

Over?

At first, I was shocked. It had never occurred to me to think that my life was “over.”

Far from it.

But, Kaitlin, aged 16, couldn’t imagine what more might lie ahead for me. I’m married. I have two children. “I’ve had the same job forever,” as Kaitlin puts it. I’ve traveled. Seen some of the world. What more could there be?

Yikes, I realized…could there be any truth to Kaitlin’s question?

  • Is life really "over" at some point?
  • Are fun and excitement eventually replaced by stress and worries?
  • Do people wind up telling themselves, "There’s got to be more to life than this…?" Only, then, to spend years wondering about what that something “more” might be?

Maybe…sometimes…for some people. But I’m happy to report…not for anybody I know.

The truth is, thinking about questions like these is a complete waste of time.

Do you ever wonder, "There's got to be something more to life than this?" There is. Come... let us help you discover it...

Here’s my point.

When you make the world your playground, you’re always starting new and exciting things… just like you did in your free-spirited early years.

You could:

Open a new jewelry shop in Mexico… Teach scuba-diving in Honduras… Start a new import-export business in Ecuador… Teach English in Vietnam… Write a novel in Paris… Surf in Nicaragua… Open a ranch in Argentina… Own your own olive grove in Italy… Restore an old castle in Romania… Start your own charity in the Dominican Republic… Ride a donkey in Greece… Learn salsa dancing in Venezuela …

… the possibilities are as limitless as your imagination.

Yes – when you expand your world beyond your own shores, your future can be just as big, bright, bold, new, and exciting as that of any teenager or young adult…

Meet us at the Ultimate Event – the biggest, most comprehensive, most prestigious gala event that International Living has ever hosted - this October 18 - 21 at the sensational Intercontinental Playa Bonita Resort near fast-booming Panama City, Panama, and you’ll learn, step-by-step, exactly what you need to do to make what will likely be your most epic adventure ever a tangible reality – as soon as possible.

Too Many Questions? Too Much Confusion?
Not after the Ultimate Event

If you’ve ever done any homework on starting a new life overseas, you’re probably aware that the more research you do, the more confused you are.

  • Which country should I live in?
  • How much will it cost me?
  • What do I need to do first? Second?
  • How can I make sure I don’t make any huge mistakes?
  • Who can help me?
  • Who can I trust?

… the list of questions goes on and on and on…

Maybe you dream of a new life in Paris – complete with a view of the Eiffel Tower from a 17th-century restored loft where you can smell the fresh croissants baking outside your window and watch passers-by stroll down the narrow cobblestone streets.

Or maybe big-city living is out of the question.

“These conferences are incredible – always exposed to valuable information that the average person may not have even considered to learn about.”
Richard Staufer

Maybe you want to live right on the beach. “Give me the sand and surf outside my doorstep in the morning – and breakfast served by my maid,” you say. “I want lapping waves right in front of me. Sea, sand, swaying palm trees, and sensational sunsets. And I want to grill that $2 lobster I bought from a local fisherman for dinner tonight!”

Or maybe you still can’t make up your mind…
  • A penthouse apartment in Argentina?
  • A bungalow in Thailand?
  • A casita in Nicaragua?
  • A cottage in Ecuador?
  • A castle in Bulgaria?
  • A villa in Spain?
  • A beach house in Honduras?

The more you think about it, the more confusing it gets.

That’s why it helps to have a strong set of inside contacts – well-informed, “in-the-know” expats, professionals, and locals who have already made the big move and are now reaping the benefits of an overseas lifestyle.

What are you in the market for right now? A new life? A second chance? An adventure? A second home in Paradise? Maybe a chance to make some money? So many choices... So many chances...

Since all the experts you’ll meet at the Ultimate Event have many years of overseas living, traveling, and work experience, they can show you the quickest, cheapest, and most hassle-free way to get what you want from the offshore world – while avoiding all the pitfalls along the way.

No Subject Will Go Uncovered At The Ultimate Event

At International Living's Ultimate Event, you'll enjoy the rare privilege of gathering the latest information on every single aspect of enjoying a simple, luxurious, yet affordable international lifestyle.

Absolutely no subject will go uncovered.

Overseas real estate purchase process…profitable business opportunities… offshore asset protection… money-saving retirement programs… How to stay in touch while overseas… How to ship your personal belongings… How to work from anywhere in the world… The best beachfront properties in the world… The best retirement bargains in the world…The best health care in the world...

… and much, much more.

Even if you come to this conference knowing almost nothing about living overseas, other than simply being interested in it, you’ll leave with a solid set of contacts, wonderful memories, and a complete, step-by-step game plan that details how to start enjoy an extraordinary and affordable life overseas as soon as possible.

“Exceeded my expectations. Great event. Excellent. Enjoyed the accessibility of everyone involved. There were no superstars who were ‘too good’ to rub elbows with everyone.”
Robert Antonelli

Yes - Your Childhood Dreams Can Come True

Ever since a trip to San Miguel De Allende, Mexico, as a young girl, International Living reader Louise Vejar of San Francisco had a dream of living in a quaint colonial home.

Years later, on a trip to Granada, Nicaragua, Louise and her husband Allen were drawn to a corner house, a block away from Parque Central.

It was a beautiful Spanish colonial home - exactly the kind of home she had dreamed of living in since her childhood.

However, her heart sank when she saw no “For Sale” sign posted outside.

“Not to worry,” assured their guide. “I can get that house for you.”

At the time, it was often difficult to tell which properties were on the market. The locals were too proud to display “For Sale” signs on their homes, as this would be seen as an acknowledgement that they were desperate for money.

Louise remembers, “I knew it was my house. It was in need of renovation, but it still had all its original timber doors and floors.”

“I am impacted beyond words. The plans I came away with have changed - changed for the better, because I have more to work with. Now our approach can be more direct - focused with very specific goals to achieve.”
John Dobson

Thanks to the Vejars’ inside contact, they were able to take action without a hitch – and are now the proud owners of this beautifully renovated colonial home.

You’ll meet over 40 experts with the same intimate knowledge of local markets and inside connections as the Vejars’ guide at the Ultimate Event – contacts that will help you identify the hottest properties, simplify the buying process, maneuver through red tape, handle cultural and language differences, protect your investment, and much more…

Today, the Vejars own a total of 10 properties in Nicaragua – including a new home in San Juan del Sur - a funky little bohemian beach town centered around a beach set in a protected cove.

“Now we have a spectacular Mediterranean/Roman-style house, with 50-foot Roman columns along the front, 28-foot-high ceilings, and an infinity pool,” Louise says.

“The incredible views stretch all the way to Costa Rica, just a 30-minute boat ride away. The house turned out bigger than we had planned and much prettier than we expected… even nicer than the magazine picture we had originally modeled it on.”

Since the Vejars bought their first house in Granada, property values in this country have risen dramatically.

While they have not had their properties professionally valued, Louise estimates that some of their holdings have appreciated up to 12 times their original price, and possibly more. Going on prices paid for comparable lots in the area, Louise believes that their $3,500 lot on Lake Nicaragua is now worth more than $100,000.

However, finding her dream home wasn’t Louise’s only accomplishment. She was also able to get in touch with her creative side… and her investment side as well.

You see, since moving to Nicaragua 10 years ago, Louise has developed a keen interest in collecting paintings by local artists.

Moya, a world-acclaimed artist, is one of her favorites.

“He is an interesting, complex man who creates enormous sculptures,” she tells me. Among the couple’s collection is a two-ton statue of a woman holding a dolphin and a sculptured fountain in the shape of a voluptuous woman.

Louise also collects paintings by the artist Hugo De Palma.

“I believe that Central American art is a good investment, and artists here are quickly becoming popular in both this part of the world and internationally.”

How do the Vejars feel about their new life overseas? “We’re used to moving around…it keeps us young,” Louise laughs.

These are the kinds of opportunities you’ll discover at the Ultimate Event.

Reconnect With Your Youthful Side – In As Little As Six Short Months

Forward-thinking adventurers like the Vejars are enjoying downright enviable lifestyles… and we'd like to show you how you can follow in their footsteps.

Sure, you could go to an online bookstore and order a few books on living overseas.

Or you could just wing it on your own.

But this October in Panama, we've designed a program with the sole purpose of shaving years -- and untold dollars -- off your learning curve.

You see, the inner circle of experts we've invited to speak to you have decades and decades of experience in the real world. They'll be sharing practical, proven secrets that you can put to use immediately to have living and prospering overseas in as little as six short months… perhaps even sooner.

Now, that might sound like an ambitious promise.

“It was clear to me after meeting the speakers and staff of IL that they are committed to providing the most accurate information available to them at the time. This is certainly a group of very well informed Global thinkers. You should be very proud of the continued growth and the success of your organization. Thank you.
Ann Fichtinger

But I have no doubt that if you put into action the insider techniques, tricks of the trade, and real-world secrets you'll learn at this unprecedented event, you’ll save yourself months -- if not years -- of costly trial-and-error.

Not to mention thousands and thousands of dollars.

And in just a matter of a few short months -- you could launch for yourself a whole new life… a life where you spend time doing the things you’d really rather be doing.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER – P.J. O’ROURKE ,“The Funniest Writer In America”,Best-Selling Author and Political Satirist

With more than a million words of trenchant journalism under his byline and more citations in The Penguin Dictionary of Humorous Quotations than any other living writer, P.J. O’Rourke has established himself as America’s premier political satirist. His best-selling books include Parliament of Whores, Give War a Chance, Eat the Rich, and The CEO of the Sofa. Both Time magazine and The Wall Street Journal have called him “the funniest writer in America.”

In his latest book, Peace Kills, O’Rourke casts his ever-shrewd and mordant eye on America’s foreign policy since the fall of communism. After watching the Berlin Wall come down, he went on to cover the fighting in Bosnia and Kosovo – “the unspellables versus the unpronouncables.” He traveled as a tourist to Israel during the second intifada and made an even stranger and sadder tour to Capitol Hill on September 11, 2001. He was in Egypt in the wake of 9/11 to walk Cairo’s “Arab Street” and then found the streets of America to be more alarming during anti-Iraq War demonstrations. He was in Kuwait and Baghdad during the Iraq War and finally made a pilgrimage to Iwo Jima for a reminder of what it was like to fight in a “total war.”

ABOUT P.J. O’ROURKE: Since 1982, Patrick Jake O’Rourke has traveled as a foreign correspondent to more than 50 countries. He visited the Dome of the Rock Mosque disguised as “P.J. of Arabia.” In “Among the Euro-Weenies,” he was the first reporter to realize how much NATO allies hate us. And he foresaw the tragedy of post-war Iraq when, in Baghdad with the U.S. Army, he tried to buy beer and got cheated. O’Rourke was the Foreign Editor for Rolling Stone for 15 years and has written for such diverse publications as Automobile, House and Garden, Foreign Policy, The New York Times Book Review and Forbes FYI. He is currently a correspondent for The Atlantic Monthly and a contributing editor at The Weekly Standard.

O’Rourke attended Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and graduate school at Johns Hopkins where he was a Woodrow Wilson Fellow. After receiving a M.A. in English, he worked at small newspapers in Baltimore and New York. In the early 1970’s, O’Rourke became editor-in-chief of The National Lampoon where he created, with Doug Kenny, the now classic 1964 High School Yearbook Parody.

Whether dealing with the inner workings of Washington bureaucracy or the shifting sands of the new world order, O’Rourke proves himself to be a savvy guide to national and world affairs. His razor sharp insights never fail to inform and entertain. O’Rourke is known as a hard-bitten, cigar-smoking conservative; but, in fact, he bashes all political persuasions. As he puts it, “Giving money and power to government is like giving whiskey and car keys to teenage boys.”

O’Rourke will speak at International Living’s Ultimate Event on Wednesday, October 18, 2006 – and will do a book-signing as well.

Ample Time to Mingle with Your Fellow Attendees and Speakers

You'll find -- as with all our live International Living programs -- that a certain portion of the real value of the experience comes not in the stress-reducing, money-making and money-saving information you're gathering… but in the casual interactions you have with the speakers and your fellow attendees.

No doubt that in the off-the-cuff remarks, in the informal exchanges at the bar or around the table at lunch -- you learn things you wouldn't pick up any other way.

And we've chosen our speakers because we know them to be not only extremely knowledgeable, but also unendingly generous with their time and expertise. I feel certain you'll find the access you gain at this event truly invaluable.

This opportunity is one that really can open up for you a whole new chapter in your life -- give you the flexibility and freedom you crave (and the income you need) to recapture those lost feelings of freedom, wonder, and peace-of-mind.

You're Ensured an Elegant Room, Excellent Service,
and a Discounted Rate

Of course, we'll be based during our time in Panama at a wonderful resort. The Intercontinental Playa Bonita Resort is a downright luxurious property -- complete with such high-end amenities as a swimming pool, health club, gymnasium, massage services, and spa.

Panoramic view of Playa Bonita Resort & Spa
  • Every single room is elegantly appointed and boasts sensational ocean views…
  • Bathrobes, daily newspaper service, and high-speed Internet access available…
  • Free Sea Kayak Rentals for hotel guests – who else can say they’ve gone sea kayaking in the blue waters of Panama Bay?
  • An exotic “swim-up” bar as well as a fully-stocked lobby bar. Perhaps you’ll enjoy a cocktail or two next to one of our experts…

And, of course, we've arranged for our conference participants an excellent discount.

As a conference attendee, you can take advantage of a discounted room rate of $140 a night, (single occupancy) or $150 (double occupancy).

The rate includes full buffet breakfast daily, welcome cocktail drink and complimentary use of the fitness center.

(What's more, you can enjoy the special rate for five days before and after our event. So if you decide to extend your stay -- which I encourage you to do -- you can take advantage of the discount throughout your visit.)

Bring With You To Panama This October a Strong Desire
to Start Something New in Your Life

We'll provide you with all the tools you need -- all the how-to information about finding your dream home… choosing a place to live… keeping your cost-of-living down and your quality-of-life high…

…the best ways and smartest places to invest in real estate… how to turn your hobby into a profitable business… how to make travel tax-deductible… how to enjoy the world's best retirement destinations… and more…

“All speakers were readily available for individual discussion both during the conference and in the restaurant/bar afterwards. I would certainly join another International Living conference as I feel the sourcing of the information and quality of the introduction will save a lot of groundwork and provide reliable professionals who will be invaluable for those considering a future life and/or investment in a foreign land.”
David H. M. Walker

As I've said, you won't just come away from these four days with guidelines on paper… In Panama this October you'll be learning strategies, I'm willing to bet, that will more than cover the cost of this conference.

In fact, I predict that a year from now, you'll look back and say just that: It was the smartest investment in your future that you ever made.

When the Ultimate Event comes to a close, you'll be genuinely prepared to return to a life of youthful idealism in some of the world’s most exotic locations.

A lifestyle that can deliver to you the freedom you deserve and the income-power you need to live anywhere in the world and enjoy the peace-of-mind that comes with it.

If there’s one thing you can count on at the Ultimate Event, it’s that you’re going to receive a lot of information.

Heaps of it.

And not just from the presentations… but from all the casual interactions and conversations you’ll have throughout the Ultimate Event with the International Living staff, our acclaimed panel of experts and your fellow attendees.

But if you’re thinking, “Who wants information overload? I’ll be overwhelmed… I’ll forget half of it within a few days… and I won’t know where to start!”

Not to worry…

We’ve taken specific steps to ensure that you not only have a way of retaining all the information you’ll get at the Ultimate Event, but that you will know exactly where to start – without getting confused or drowning in the details.

FREE REPORT #5 – Why Panama Is The World’s #1 Offshore Haven: Alone among the world’s several offshore haven jurisdictions, Panama combines maximum financial privacy, a history of judicial enforcement of asset protection‑friendly laws, a strong, enforced anti‑money laundering law, plus tax exemptions for foreigners and for offshore business and financial activity. It also provides statutory authorization for trusts, corporations, private foundations and other legal entities. You’ll get all the details in this hot-off-the-presses report.

FREE REPORT #6 – Worldwide Tax Summary: In this report, the staff of International Living provides you with a round-up of taxes in some of our favorite destinations: Argentina, Ecuador, France, Ireland, Panama, Honduras, Italy, Mexico, and Nicaragua. Minimizing taxes may not be your top priority as you consider a move overseas, but as a potential expatriate you should find out in advance about income tax, inheritance/gift tax, transfer tax, capital gains tax, rental income tax, property tax, and whatever other taxes may apply- before you take the plunge into a new life overseas.

FREE REPORT #7 – Starting Your Own Overseas Business: Although starting a more traditional type of overseas business really requires a whole kit to itself, this report will provide you with more than a few ideas and insights to get you started. You’ll discover nine questions to help you decide on a sure-fire business idea… sole-proprietorships, business taxes, and other things you need to know… the entrepreneur’s checklist… an exciting industry in which you could make 800% profits… and more…

FREE REPORT #8 – How To Prepare For A Move Overseas – A Checklist: This report will show you the latest of the knowledge we’ve acquired over the years. It contains not only some good staff research, but perhaps more importantly, it takes into account the experiences of our readers, correspondents, and writers, and even the adventures of my own family. Our version of the 12-Step Program (for selecting your overseas destination and getting underway) has been around for a while, and we continue to fine-tune it each time out.

Before we move on, let me show you one example of how much this exclusive benefit (receiving exclusive discounts on real estate) can be worth to you…

Tucan is a 180-acre gated residential community with a rainforest on one side and the Panama Canal on the other. It’s got access to health care, restaurants, exciting nightlife, national and an international airport only 15 minutes away. Some of Panama’s best beaches are less than an hour away from Tucan.

Tucan has the only golf course in Panama City - an 18-hole, par-72 championship course, designed by Jeffrey Myers. And every one of the 424 residences at Tucan Country Club gets an unobstructed view of at least one hole of the golf course.

Pricing starts at $199,000, a bargain compared to most golf communities in the USA. Should you purchase one of these residences, you’ll enjoy a 1.5% savings as a Club Panama VIP – and save at least $2,985 on your purchase.

That’s enough savings to employ a full-time maid in Panama for over two years.

At our most recent Live & Prosper in Panama Conference, several attendees saved over $10,000 simply for being members of Club Panama.

As a member of Club Panama, you’ll also get a free consultation from one of our local experts to discuss everything you want to know about living, investing, retiring, and saving money in Panama.

The best news of all?

You can join Club Panama – at no additional cost – simply by registering for the Ultimate Event today.

If you like the idea of launching a whole new life this year… of escaping the drudgery of the 9-to-5 world and trading in the boss… the commute… even the desk… for a life that allows you to rekindle your passions…

See Panama’s Hottest Real Estate Properties – Optional Tours

If you’re specifically interested in living or investing in Panama, here's what I propose you do: Come see it with us - up close and personal - as part of a small group of like-minded readers who also want to get to know Panama.

The optional Panama Real Estate Tours portion of the Ultimate Event will take place on October 22-24 - and numbers are strictly limited.

We're keeping the group small so you can move around quickly and see everything you need to see in short order.

See the country… explore the capital city… meet our top contacts… walk the beaches… inspect the condos… speak with the key developers… review plans… ask the tough questions one-on-one…

… and find out if Panama might just be the offshore destination you've been seeking.

I caution you: These tours are for serious real estate hunters. Not that there won't be time for a little fun, but make no mistake – you’ll be on the job.

On the Panama Real Estate Tour, you’ll set off for viewings of many of the best developments and current real estate opportunities in Panama’s capital – Panama City, along the nearby beaches, or both.

With you every step of the way to help guide you through your thinking will be the International Living Panama Office Team. They’ve visited every development project on the itinerary – and they know Panama well.

Optional Tour 1: Sunday, October 22 - Optional City Real Estate Tour: Viewing developments in the city.
Cost: $40 per person (Includes: transport and lunch).

Optional Tour 2: Monday & Tuesday October 23-24 - Optional Beach Tour: Viewing developments and resale properties, staying overnight at the Playa Blanca resort.
Cost: $175 (single) or $125 per person (sharing). (Includes: overnight accommodation, transport, 2 lunches, breakfast, dinner and cocktails at the Playa Blanca Resort).

IMPORTANT: If you will be joining us on the beach tour you may wish to check-out of the Intercontinental Playa Bonita on October 23 (and check back in on October 24 if needed) as your accommodation will be included at the Playa Blanca on the night of October 23.
Numbers are strictly limited for these tours.

Remember - every Ultimate Event attendee will be given free membership in Club Panama.

Launched in February, Club Panama is your pass for savings, discounts, and special perks throughout this country on everything from hotel stays to car rentals…from retail shopping to spa treatments…from restaurant dining to - get this - the purchase of real estate.

That's right. As a Club Panama member, you'll save 1.5% off the purchase of any piece of real estate purchase from a participating developer.

No restrictions, no fine print, no limit.

That means that if you buy a $100,000 property, you’ll save $1,500. Those savings alone would offset the cost of attending the Ultimate Event – with a few hundred dollars to spare!

This could be your chance to get a foothold in this enticing market at a significant savings, thanks to your complimentary Club Panama membership.

Register for International Living’s Ultimate Event now.

Or, if you’re not in front of your computer, you can still listen to the recordings from your own living room, bedroom, car, or anywhere else you can listen to an MP3 recording. (Great news for iPod owners!)

And if you like, you can repeat each presentation as many times as you wish… including any presentations or workshop you might miss…

  • You won’t be “on your own” when you get back home.
  • You’ll be “taking us with you.”
  • You won’t have to take copious notes – since you can listen to the recordings over and over again – along with the PowerPoint presentations – and refresh your memory of what you learned at the Ultimate Event at any point in the future.

Exclusive VIP Event for Roundtable and Lifetime Members

If you’re a Roundtable or Lifetime Member, then you’ve got an extra reason to be excited about the Ultimate Event.

Why?

We’re holding an exclusive VIP event for you at the beautifully-restored Panama Canal Museum.

The Panama Canal Museum, across the street from our IL offices in Casco Viejo, Panama. This is where we'll hold our private VIP reception for Roundtable and Lifetime members in attendance at the event.

Situated in Panama City’s charming colonial neighborhood of Casco Viejo, the Panama Canal Museum’s mission is to preserve the American Era of the Panama Canal (1904-1999)

At this VIP event, you’ll get to enjoy some cocktails… explore our beautifully-restored colonial offices… check out the charming neighborhood of Casco Viejo… and learn of a special, members-only deal that we’ve put together - just for you.

Hildegard Vasquez - an architect that specializes in historical restoration projects and a major contributor to the recent upsurge of real estate investments in Casco Viejo restoration projects, will also be in attendance at this VIP event.

Feel free to ask her any question you may have about the restoration process - and gain some valuable ideas on how you can restore historic colonial buildings for personal use or for making substantial profits.

Air Travel and Travel Insurance

For all your travel needs (including flight assistance and insurance), please contact your travel agency of choice. You may also want to consider one of the many companies that specialize in online reservations and travel assistance, like: www.orbitz.com, www.travelocity.com, www.expedia.com, www.qixo.com, www.mobissimo.com, www.farechase.com, or www.kayak.com.

We also suggest you sign up for free e-mail alerts from your preferred airlines, via their websites. In addition, numerous websites -- including www.travelzoo.com, for example -- offer free e-mail alerts highlighting regular specials for a wide range of airlines. Many of these websites offer tips for getting the best flights, such as being flexible with travel dates and airports if possible.

To protect your travel investment, we strongly recommend that you purchase travel insurance.  Travel insurance protects you from all the unexpected events that can disrupt or cancel your travel plans.
